Woman ambushed, fatally shot while leaving corner store in southeast Houston, police say (KPRC 2)

HOUSTON – Houston police are searching for a suspect accused of fatally shooting a 21-year-old woman after she left a corner store in southeast Houston Monday.

Officers with the Houston Police Department responded to reports of a shooting at 3738 Faulkner St. around 1:45 a.m.

When they arrived at the scene, they found the victim had been shot multiple times in the upper torso, HPD said. The victim was transported by Houston Fire Department paramedics to an area hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

Police said further investigation revealed the victim had been walking back from a corner store when the suspect, described by investigators as a female between 18 to 22 years of age, ambushed the victim. Officers said the suspect had hidden between parked cars and, as the victim walked by, jumped out and began shooting. The suspect then fled the scene eastbound on Faulkner Street toward Scott Street in a red Nissan Cube or a small four-door sedan, HPD said.
