Willkens said a woman, who appeared to be in her 30s, was walking around the apartment complex when she saw a man armed with a gun shooting another man. That was when, police said, she was hit in the shoulder by one of the bullets.

The suspect was then found to be shooting at numerous apartments before fleeing the scene, police said.

The woman was transported to an area hospital where she is expected to survive.

Police believe the shooting was random and the woman was not the intended target.
