Woman killed, 2 others injured in wrong-way crash near Midtown, police say

HOUSTON – Houston police said they are investigating a wrong-way crash that killed a woman near Midtown Friday.

It happened on Spur 527 and 59 around 2:33 a.m.

According to investigators, a man was driving a truck the wrong way and struck another vehicle. Police said there was a female passenger in the vehicle who had to be transported to an area hospital, where she was later pronounced dead.

Police said at least two other people had to be transported had to be transported to the hospital, but it was uncertain how many people were in the other vehicle that was involved in the crash.

Officers are evaluating the driver of the truck to see if he was intoxicated or not.

Drivers are urged to avoid the area or find an alternate route.
