Police identify victim who was shot point-blank while in his driveway in northeast Harris County

Surveillance video was released but the identity of the man who was killed was not known until now.

HOUSTON – Police have released the identity of a man killed in a fatal shooting while in his driveway.

Ronald Green Jr. was killed in a shooting that happened around 6:30 p.m. at a home on Matson Street near Wayside Drive in northeast Harris County.

In a previously-released surveillance video, a red, four-door Chevrolet can be seen driving in front of the 33-year-old’s house just before the shooting. The video then shows Green Jr. backing into his driveway. Moments later, the Chevrolet pulls up and the passenger gets out, runs up to Green Jr.’s vehicle and fires at him at point-blank range multiple times before fleeing the scene.

Green Jr. was transported to a hospital where he later died, authorities said. According to Green’s mother, the vehicle had been circling the block in the last few days prior to the shooting.
