Some Fort Bend ISD parents protesting for virtual learning option for more students

FORT BEND COUNTY – Some parents in Fort Bend County are planning a protest outside of Madden Elementary School Thursday morning. A parent messaged KPRC 2 and said they want a virtual option for more students.

At first, the district did not have any virtual school options planned because they did not get funding for it. A few weeks ago they added a virtual option for the fall semester only. The program was for students in Pre-K through 6th grade and it was based on availability.

The parents who messaged KPRC 2 say not everyone who wants the virtual option is getting admitted.

The parents tell us they are concerned about the number of positive cases in the district. As of Wednesday, there were 527 COVID-19 cases reported on the district’s dashboard.
