72-year-old woman with ‘evidence of trauma to the body’ found dead inside her home in north Houston, police say

HOUSTON – Houston police are investigating after a 72-year-old woman was found dead inside of a home in north Houston.

Police responded to reports of a suspicious death at a home located in the 700 block of Granville near north Shepherd in Acres Homes around 1 p.m.

According to HPD, the woman’s son said he used a key to get inside of his mother’s home to do a welfare check and found her dead. Police said there were signs of trauma to the woman’s body.

Family members told KPRC 2 they noticed something was wrong when the woman, who was identified as Dorris Williams, did not show up for the family’s zoom session.

Williams’ sister said she was a loving, religious family member who was a part of a tight-knit family who kept tabs on each other every day.

Investigators said they are working to determine the woman’s cause of death.
