Ask 2: I already got the COVID-19 vaccine. Now that Harris County is offering the $100 incentive, do I qualify?

Question: I already got the COVID-19 vaccine. Now that Harris County is offering the $100 incentive, do I qualify?

Answer: No.

According to Harris County Judge Lina Hidalgo, only people who are now getting their first vaccine through Harris County Public Health qualify for the $100. During a news conference announcing the incentive, Hidalgo acknowledged that this seems unfair since people who got the vaccine early were doing the right thing. She said that without people getting the vaccine early, the county would be in much worse shape.

In order to get the $100, people getting their first dose will need to sign a waiver prior to the vaccine and will need to stay in the post-vaccine waiting area for 15 to 30 minutes after receiving the vaccine, Hidalgo said.
