HPD: Man struck by car while riding scooter in southeast Houston (KPRC 2)

HOUSTON – A man is hospitalized in critical condition after police say he was struck by a car while riding a scooter in southeast Houston.

The incident occurred around midnight near the intersection of Southlea Street and Martin Luther King Boulevard.

Authorities said the driver fled the scene after striking the man. Officers located the driver and took him into custody.

The victim sustained head trauma during the crash and was transported to an area hospital in critical condition.

Investigators are working to determine if the driver was intoxicated when the crash occurred.

An investigation into the incident is ongoing.
