Police: Man accidentally shoots, kills sister while showing her a new gun

HOUSTON – A woman was accidentally shot and killed Tuesday by her brother who was showing her a new gun at a home in north Houston, police said.

The shooting was reported about 1 p.m. at a home in the 100 block of Wellington Street.

According to Houston police, the man thought he had unloaded the gun and that the weapon was on safety when he pointed it at his sister. The gun fired and hit the woman.

The woman died at the scene, police said.
