In the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey, there were hundreds of pets that were abandoned or displaced across the Houston area. The extremely high demand to rescue and help these pets has put a massive strain on local resources.
In response, McCullers' foundation teamed up with Houston PetSet to find these animals new forever homes in California.
"We know that the wonderful folks living along California's Central Coast look forward to giving these beautiful animals a forever home and a chance at a new life they would not have found in Houston," McCullers said.
Nearly 100 puppies, kittens, cats and dogs were loaded onto a chartered bus Monday, bound for California.
