Harvey victims can get free replacement of license-to-carry cards

HOUSTON – Texas gun owners who lost their license-to-carry cards during Hurricane Harvey can get a replacement card for free.

Gov. Greg Abbott said he directed the Texas Department of Safety to provide no-cost replacements of license to carry a handgun cards and private security board licensee cards to victims of Hurricane Harvey.

“By eliminating burdensome fees to replace these important licenses, Texans can focus on rebuilding their lives and communities,” Abbott said in a written statement.

The order applies to residents of counties that have received a gubernatorial disaster declaration and who are active Texas LTC or PSB license holders.

Those who wish to take advantage of the offer should call the Regulatory Services Division at 512-424-7293. People should be prepared to provide proof of their identity.

The service is not available online.
