HOUSTON – More than 250 teams will compete in the World's Championship Bar-B-Que Contest at the Houston Rodeo from Thursday through Saturday.
The event is open to the public from Feb. 22 through Feb. 24, but most team tents are accessible only with an invitation. Tent passes are not for sale and are distributed by the barbeque teams.
Visitors can enjoy several public venues, including The Garden, the Rockin' Bar-B-Que Salon and the Chuck Wagon. The carnival will also be open.

Visitors can pick up a complimentary plate of sliced brisket, chips and beans at the Chuck Wagon.
Drink tickets are available on the grounds for $2 each.

Parking for the World's Championship Bar-B-Que Contest is different than the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo parking.
Public on-site parking is available for $20 in the following locations:
Miller Lite Yellow Lot
- Location: The primary route to the Yellow Lot is 610 to Main Street, enter Gate 16 off Main Street.
- Hours of operation: 6 a.m. - 10 p.m.
- Pricing: $20
610 Lot
- Location: Entrance is off West Bellfort and Kirby.
- Hours of Operation: 9 a.m. to 10 p.m.
- Pricing: $20
Handicapped-accessible parking
- A limited number of ADA parking, including van accessible parking, are available in the Miller Lite Teal and Yellow lots for $20 per day. These spaces are sold on a first-come, first-served basis and are subject to availability. Present valid state issued handicap placard or vehicle registration for access. Once the ADA parking is full, ADA customers will be redirected to the nearest ADA accessible or general parking lot.
Miller Lite Teal Lot (Also the ADA drop-off and pickup location)
- Location: Entrance is Gate 14 off of Murworth
- Hours of Operation: 6 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Trams
Trams will run from the METRORail to the Bar-B-Que Contest
Lyft and ride-sharing
- Drop-offs and pickups are in the Green Lot.
- Entrance Gate 13D off Westridge from the northbound lanes of Main Street is the only access to the lot. There is no left-turn lane access allowed from the southbound lanes of Main Street.
