Donald Trump Jr. joins Ted Cruz at campaign rally in Conroe

CONROE, Texas – On Wednesday evening, Donald Trump Jr. joined Sen. Ted Cruz in a campaign rally as they work to energize Republicans for the upcoming midterm elections.

The rally comes as the race for U.S. Senate seat heats up between U.S. Rep. Beto O’Rourke and Cruz, who is seeking re-election.

Trump Jr. and Cruz spoke at a rally in Wichita Falls, which is near Dallas, earlier Wednesday.

President Donald Trump’s son touched on what he said was the “elephant in the room” in regards to the heated exchanges between President Trump and then-presidential nominee Ted Cruz back in 2016.

He said they were able to put aside their differences.

"Ted Cruz came back with us, and this group of Texas boys sat in the lobby of Trump Hotel on Pennsylvania Avenue two months after a contentious primary for three hours and we had a ball, formed a good relationship,” said Trump Jr. to a room of supporters in Wichita Falls. “And let me say this, that wasn’t easy. I mean it as a highest compliment, I don’t know that if the shoes was [sic] reversed I could have done that, I’d like to believe that I could, but, but that’s a testament to this man’s character.”

Cruz then took the mic to speak on how they have a fight ahead of them and reminded people early voting is around the corner, starting in 17 days.

“Here in Texas, we got a fight on our hands, because we know that the extreme left is energized and angry, and I’ll tell there's no race in the country that’s, bar none, that has a starker divide between the candidates than this United States Senate race here in Texas,” said Cruz.

Former Fox News host and lawyer Kimberly Guilfoyle was also at the campaign.

Two months ago, President Trump tweeted he planned to visit the Lone Star State to hold a rally with Cruz, but nothing has been set as of yet.
