Police: 15-year-old girl abducted from Pearland found safe in Beaumont; suspect in custody

HOUSTON – A 15-year-old girl who police say was abducted in Pearland on Sunday has been found safe in Beaumont on Monday, Pearland police said.

An Amber Alert was issued for Irene Alejandra Nunez, from Honduras, and her 37-year-old stepfather Kevin Mauricio Caceres, from Honduras. 

Police said Caceres was driving a white 2013 Buick Enclave with Texas license plate MLM7190.

One neighbor said he is surprised at the incident. 

"It’s just amazing that it happened next door," said Gordon Johnson. "I am hoping that they find the girl. Hopefully, she is OK." 

Police said Nunez was found at 1:45 p.m. in Jefferson County. Caceres was taken into custody and will be charged with kidnapping.
