Firefighters battle house fire in SW Houston neighborhood

HOUSTON – Firefighters put out flames at a house that caught fire in southwest Houston.

The fire started around 5:30 a.m. Sunday at a single-story house on Chasewood Drive near Steeple Chase Road, according to the Houston Fire Department.

Four people were asleep inside the house but got out when a neighbor knocked on the door, alerting them to the fire, the fire department said.

The house is a total loss and three cars also caught fire, fire officials said.

A firefighter suffered minor injuries at the scene.
