HOUSTON – A Magnolia Independent School District bus driver is behind bars after being charged with indecency with a child, officials said.
Matthew Curry, 40, was arrested Friday morning and is being held in the Montgomery County Jail on a $30,000 bond.
The mother of the 6-year-old told KPRC 2 that her daughter was a victim of Curry.
"My compassion is through the roof as a mother right now, you know, in wanting to fix everything," said the mother of the victim.
That fact that this mother is here, needing to fix the pain she says her daughter endured, hurts, she says, almost as much as when her daughter told her what had happened.
The incident happened around 5 p.m., says the mother, whose identity we're concealing to protect the alleged victim, her daughter.
Curry was feeding their neighbors cat because they were out of town, said the mom.
The victim's mom says the girl walked to the neighbors, thinking they were home because their cars were there.
The neighbors weren't home, but Curry was.
"He asked her if she wanted to feed the animals, and she said yes. They fed the animals. He started asking her questions about how old she was," said the mom.
Curry then asked her if she wanted to play a game.
The victim's mom said Curry sat on the ground and allegedly restrained the girl and touching her inappropriately.
"She kept asking him 'Please let me go. I just want to get on my scooter, can I leave now?' And from what we know, that was when he finally broke and let her go," said the mom.
The girl's mother says her daughter ran home and told them everything.
They called 911 and took their daughter to be examined by doctors at Texas Children's Hospital.
Curry is employed as a school bus driver for Magnolia ISD.
In a statement, the district said, "Our top priority is the safety and well-being of all students and any deviation from this expectation will not be tolerated."
There was no answer at Curry's home tonight.
This mother says she is sharing her story so that other children won't endure what hers did.
"I just want to make sure that other people don't get abused, assaulted, other girls from guys like this, from people," said the mom.
Magnolia ISD released the following statement saying it's aware of the arrest:
"Magnolia ISD was notified on Friday, December 28 by Montgomery County Precinct 5 Constable’s Office that Matthew Curry, a bus driver, was arrested at his home. Our top priority is the safety and well-being of all students and any deviation from this expectation will not be tolerated."
