Baytown DARE officer pulls gun during drill at elementary school, district says

BAYTOWN, Texas – A Baytown DARE officer pulled a gun on students during a drill Friday, according to district officials.

The district said the officer was at Clark Elementary to teach a class and was unaware the drill was taking place.

The officer heard through the school's intercom system that the campus was being placed on lockdown, which is a "standard announcement at the onset of a drill," according to the district.

The district said he briefly pulled his gun.

No one was injured and all students were safe.

The district said the "drills help district personnel to practice and prepare for a wide variety of emergencies, including intruders, severe weather and fire."
