Missing man's body found behind Sugar Land school

HOUSTON – The body of a Richmond man who was reported missing last week was found in a pond behind a school in Sugar Land on Friday, authorities said.

Investigators said 21-year-old Jeremy Arceo was found dead on Sept. 28 in a retention pond behind Stephen F. Austin High School. A man walking his dog made the discovery, according to authorities.

Arceo was last seen on the morning of Sept. 25, when he went for a run.

Crews said they spent much of the weekend searching for Arceo in northwest Harris County after family members said someone answered his phone in that part of the county and then ended the call.

Arceo’s family said they feel like his death seems suspicious.

“He is in impeccable shape very strong kid. He has a military background and he is martial arts trained so I do have questions,” said Arceo’s uncle, Chuck Barrette.

Investigators said there is nothing that indicates foul play was involved in Arceo’s death, but toxicology tests are being performed.

The case remains open and anyone with information should contact local authorities.
