HOUSTON – Police have identified a man whose body was found Wednesday at a park in Missouri City.
Michael Lee Johnson's body was discovered by a lawn care crew around 8 a.m. at Buffalo Run Park near the intersection of Buffalo Run and Fairway Pines Drive.
Police said it appears Johnson, 19, suffered injuries, and foul play is suspected.
Capt. Paul Poulton said the body was likely in the park for days and whatever happened doesn’t appear to be accidental.
"It's definitely suspicious in nature and foul play is expected," he said. "Because the injuries to the body, where they were located, doesn’t look like anything that would have been an accident of any nature."
Investigators said the body may have been in the park for up to three days.
Anyone with information about Johnson is asked to call the Missouri City Police Department at 281-403-8721.
This is not the first time a body has been discovered at the park.
"This is about the third time a body was found," said Jim Williams, who walks at the park. "It kind of puts you on alert sometimes."
"It's happened before," said Mike Boha, another walker at the park. "So, I mean, it's kind of weird to find it, but when we came they said, 'Don't worry.'"
Two years ago, a 16-year-old boy was killed at the park by an MS-13 gang member.
