KINGWOOD, Texas – A man might not face charges after he shot another man who broke into a woman's home Saturday and attacked him, according to police.
The attack happened inside an apartment in the 2100 block of Lake Hills Drive in Kingwood just after 10 p.m.
Raul Torres, 26, went to his mother-in-law's home to speak to his wife, police said. After initially knocking on the door, Torres kicked it in and struck a 23-year-old man who was inside the apartment in the face.
The 23-year-old man pulled out a gun and shot Torres in the chest.
Torres was taken to a hospital in stable condition. Police said the 23-year-old was detained but later released.
Torres was charged with burglary of a habitation.
