Man injured in shooting outside European Wax in Pearland

PEARLAND, Texas – A man was injured in a shooting Saturday outside a European Wax center in Pearland, police said.

Jeff Evans with the Pearland Police Department said the shooting began with a verbal altercation between two men over their vehicle in the 11300 block of Broadway in Pearland.

Police said a woman, who was receiving service from the center, was with her significant other when another man came in and started asking about a possible vehicle situation. Police said the man asked the couple to come outside and when he said, "No, we're not coming out," a verbal altercation broke out.

Police said the two men were asked to leave the European Wax Center and that's when the man shot the woman's significant other.

The victim was taken to Memorial Hermann Hospital in an unknown condition.

Police said the gunman was shortly found after the shooting and was detained along with a person of interest.

The suspected shooter has been identified as 32-year-old Jeremy Axel, according to Pearland Police. He has been charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
