Lockdown at Spring ISD school lifted after suspicious item found

HOUSTON – A lockdown at a northwest Harris County school on Tuesday that was prompted by the discovery of a suspicious item has been lifted.
Officials at the Spring Independent School District said the item was found across the street from Thompson Elementary School, near Walters Road and Wellington Parkway.
A tweet from the Harris County Sheriff's Office said deputies determined the item did not pose a threat.

Video from the scene showed at least a dozen emergency vehicles there. A man in a protective suit could be seen evaluating a black bag that was on the shoulder of the street.
Parents could also be seen lining up at the school.
Harris County deputies said this was the 12th suspicious package call they responded to on Tuesday.
