Vehicle fire in downtown parking garage causes evacuations
HOUSTON – A vehicle fire caused commotion in downtown Houston Friday.
The vehicle caught fire in a parking garage at the intersection of Rusk Street and Smith Street.
The city's public works building was evacuated, according to reports. Smoke made its way into the building because it is connected to the garage.
The garage is also connected to City Hall and the Hobby Center, but it is not clear if those buildings were evacuated.
Authorities said only one vehicle was involved in the fire.
No injuries were reported.
Houston fireghters put out a car fire inside a parking garage in the theater district. The owner has been located. The fire chief tells me they had a slight challenge with this one because it happened on the basement level. @KPRC2 pic.twitter.com/dWdhTP5TqI— Taisha Walker (@KPRC2Taisha) February 2, 2018
