3 arrested in connection with rash of robberies in NE Houston

HOUSTON – A series of robberies targeting women on Houston's northeast side has been connected to two brothers who live in the area, according to police.

Adrian Jones, 18, and Kelvin Jones, 19, were charged with aggravated robbery. Police said the pair is responsible for at least three carjackings since May.

"The most terrifying moments in my life," said a 64-year-old woman who said she was one of the victims. I'm just trying to get through it."

The woman, who asked to remain anonymous, said she was robbed and carjacked in the parking lot of the Villas in the Pine senior living complex in May.

The crimes continued into June and most likely July, police said.

"It's almost certain that these guys are responsible for many other robberies and carjackings," Houston police Detective Greg Shelton said.

Shelton said the brothers were responsible for similar crimes at 15100 Golden Eagle and 7800 N. Sam Houston Parkway East.

Shelton said he managed to crack the case when one of the victim's noticed a pack of cigarettes in her car after it was recovered. He said he had the crime lab analyze the fingerprints on the pack, and they came back to the Jones brothers.

"This is a really good example of citizens teaming up with the police, working together to identify these suspects," Shelton said.

Adrian Jones is currently being held without bond in the Harris County Jail. Kelvin Jones is being held on $60,000 bail.

Police said that Adrian Jones' girlfriend, Amy Gallegos, hindered the investigation and taunted police. Gallegos was being held in jail without bond.
