HOUSTON – It’s one of the most important things Houston Health Department Restaurant Inspectors check for, safe food temperatures.
That’s why they constantly pull out their thermometers to measure the temperature of the foods being stored in restaurant coolers and refrigerators.
That’s because unsafe temps help grow bacteria and can make you sick.
But at Boudreaux’s Cajun Kitchen at 17595 Tomball Parkway, health inspectors reported taking temperature readings and found all of the reach-in coolers were malfunctioning and were not capable of keeping foods cold enough.
The rule is foods must be stored at 41 degrees or lower.
All of those reach-in coolers were ordered quarantined by the health department until they can be repaired.
Up next, it’s Al’s Pizza House at 1757 W. Little York, where inspectors spotted cockroaches in the restaurant.
We don’t know how many cockroaches, the official report doesn’t specify how many, but it was enough for inspectors to close the restaurant down temporarily.
Soaring over to the Silver Eagle Club at 4302 Reed Road, where inspectors also discovered cockroaches in the kitchen.
Specifically they noted live cockroaches on the ice cooler and near the ice machine.
They found dead cockroaches in the women’s toilet room.
Buenos Noches everybody, our next stop is Las Haciendas Mexican Bar And Grill, where the health department discovered cockroaches both in the food preparation area and in the dry storage area.
The order given to eliminate those roaches immediately.
And ice machine, oh ice machine, restaurant inspectors get hot when they find slime in the ice machine.
This time, The Baytown Seafood Market gets written up for having ice not safe for human consumption.
Inspectors found black slime in the ice machine and all of that ice was ordered thrown away.
And this week we celebrate the pizza pros at Pepperoni’s in Montrose.
The hard-working staff earns our coveted A-Plus Award for getting a perfectly, spotless restaurant inspection report.
They also earn a big, round, crusty booo yaaaah!
Congratulations Pepperoni’s.
