Man in photo with kid on motorcycle turns himself in after being charged with child endangerment

HOUSTON – A man who, in a Facebook post, appeared to be riding a motorcycle with a small child aboard turned himself in to authorities custody after he was charged Thursday with abandoning or endangering a child.

Liberty County Sheriff's Office deputies arrested Anthony Welsh, 31, at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday for unrelated outstanding warrants.

Many people who commented on the Facebook post were calling Welsh out, asking for him to be prosecuted.

The Facebook post was shared hundreds of times before it was removed.

The post read, “Any one of my friends know this (expletive) idiot?!?! The reason a say (expletive) idiot is one, he has a toddler smaller than my son on this bike with a back tire about (expletive) flat!”

Liberty County Sheriff's Office Capt. Ken DeFoor told KPRC 2 that his office received several calls about the photo.

Investigators said they received written statements from two eyewitness that confirm Welsh was seen with his infant son riding on the gas tank area of Welch’s motorcycle while they were on the highway in the area of Tarkington Prairie in Liberty County.

After receiving the statements, a warrant for Welch’s arrest was issued for the offense of abandoning or endangering a child, which is a felony offense punishable by jail time.

Welsh turned himself in around 5:30 p.m. Thursday and is being processed into the Liberty County Jail.
