Man shot in head during home invasion, police say

HOUSTON – A man is in critical condition after being shot in the head during a home invasion, police said. 

According to officers,  Jaime Cantu Jr., 34, came to his parents house in the 7200 block of Housman around 2:30a.m. to pick up his 3-year-old son, who his parents had been babysitting. 

The Cantu reportedly heard a knock on the door. When he opened it, two men in their early 20s barged in and began fighting him, police said. 

According to authorities, the two men pulled a gun and shot the Cantu in the head. The father of the man woke up and also began fighting with the two men.

Cantu's father was also shot at, but was not wounded, according to police.

The two men ran from the scene and Cantu was taken to Ben Taub Hospital in critical condition.
