Mayor Turner, others announce parking plan for Houston's popular spring break destinations

HOUSTON – Mayor Sylvester Turner announced Tuesday suggested driving directions and recommended parking locations for Houston’s most popular attractions during spring break.

Spring break starts Saturday through March 19.

The city of Houston has teamed up with the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo, Houston Museum District, Hermann Park/Houston Zoo, Texas Medical Center and METRO to create easy access to Houston’s most popular spring break destinations.

“Houstonians and visitors alike use spring break to experience our city’s best family attractions,” Turner said. “With an increase in attendance during this week, we want to make traveling to and from these world-class destinations as easy as possible. Our plan will allow for more time enjoying the attractions and less time in traffic and searching for parking.”

An estimated 350,000 visitors  are expected to be in the Houston area during spring break. The city recommended that people plan ahead and use public transportation when possible.

“Super Bowl visitors discovered what many Houstonians already know; taking METRO is easy and saves you time and money,” METRO President & CEO Tom Lambert said.

METRO's interactive map shows attractions near each rail line. Visitors can also see METRO’s recommended parking locations for the downtown area.
