Teen found shot to death near SW Houston apartment laundry room identifed

HOUSTON – Houston police have released the identity of a teen who was found shot to death in the 6100 block of Glenmont Drive on Thursday, according to police.

Officials said around 6:50 p.m. Jose Ortiz Martinez was with friends in a San Lucas Apartments laundry room when some sort of altercation broke out and 30 minutes later, the Martinez was shot in the head.

Investigators said they need all the help they can get. There are no suspects, and no descriptions of the gunman still.

Witnesses said several males took off running immediately after, but there is no description of those males.

Neighbors said they're in shock and this is just an awful thing to happen.

"He didn't live here he was just visiting and we know he was 15 years old and they shot him." neighbor Adriana Hinajosa said. 

Another neighbor said, "It's not safe for teenagers out here, it needs to be patrolled more down here."

Anyone with information is asked to contact the HPD Homicide Division or Crime Stoppers. There is a $5,000 reward for anyone who can provide information in the case.
