Coast Guard finds missing kayaker safe in Galveston, officials say

GALVESTON, Texas – U.S. Coast Guard found a kayaker who went missing Sunday afternoon safe near Sunny Beach in Galveston, officials said.

The man was reported missing at 1 p.m. after he disappeared near the west seawall on Galveston Island, officials said.

Police said the kayaker is a Hispanic man who was last seen in a green kayak, and wearing camouflage waders and a life jacket.

U.S. Coast Guard said they spotted him floating in the water two miles off the coast of Sunny Beach. They said a helicopter was used to pull him out.

He was transported to a local hospital.

There was no word on his condition.
