HOUSTON – Police are asking for help identifying a woman connected to a deadly shooting that happened in November, officers said Monday.
Emmett Wayne Crawford, 39, was found dead near his SUV at 4020 Dreyfus Street, near Foster Street, about 3:45 a.m. Nov. 1, according to a news release from the Houston Police Department.
The woman whom officers would like to question was seen getting out of, and then returning to, Crawford’s white Ford Expedition at a convenience store about 45 minutes before the shooting, police said.
Crawford died before he could be taken to a hospital. He was from Pearland.
A sergeant with the homicide division and a senior police officer investigating the case reported that Crawford had been in his SUV when he got into an argument with a man and a woman in a gray Honda or Hyundai.
Both vehicles drove slowly toward St. Augustine Street, and as both drivers stopped side by side at the intersection, shots were fired and Crawford was struck. He was found dead just outside his SUV, police said.
A witness told officers he woke up to the gunfire, looked outside and saw a black or dark blue Ford F-150 pickup truck with the headlights off, reversing from the intersection on St. Augustine, according to the release.
The truck then headed east on Dreyfus Street with the headlights still off. The witness also spotted Crawford in front of his SUV, which was in a ditch.
Anyone who has information on the case or who knows the identity of the woman is asked to call police at 713-308-3600 or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
