SWAT standoff in Montrose ends in arrest

Houston police arrested one person after a standoff in Montrose late Sunday.

Lt. Larry Crowson, of Houston police, said officers were called to the 2500 block of Park Street around 9:30 p.m.

A man told officers his partner had choked him during an argument.

Police said the suspect broke out the window of their vehicle then retreated into an apartment.

Officers felt the situation was unsafe and called SWAT.

After about two hours of negotiation, police said the suspect came out of the apartment.

The suspect was taken to the hospital to be checked out for injuries, then taken to jail and charged with aggravated assault.

The suspect's name has not been released.
