Man shot in head on Christmas Eve at Katy bar, police say

KATY, Texas – A man shot another man in the head on Christmas Eve at a bar in Katy, according to police.

The shooting was reported about 2 a.m. Saturday at the Southland Bar and Grill on Stockdick Road.

According to Katy police, Earl Semien, 52, shot Chris Battelli in the head, and Battelli died at the scene.

Police said the men were acquainted, but they are still trying to determine what led to the shooting.

Semien was charged with murder. He was being held in jail on $300,000 bond.
