4 arrested in New Caney after robbery at Spring drugstore

NEW CANEY, Texas – Four men were arrested early Friday in New Caney after they robbed a drugstore in Spring late Thursday night, authorities said.

Darrius Jacobs, 26, is charged with possession of a controlled substance, and Justin L. Wright, 27, Kerry Johnson, 26, and Ladarious Thomas, 23, are charged with aggravated robbery with a deadly weapon.

The robbery was reported just before midnight at the Walgreens store at the intersection of Aldine Westfield and Wood River roads.

According to investigators, the armed robbers locked drugstore employees in a back officer before they fled. The employees called 911.

A driver who was nearby saw the getaway car, which had Louisiana license plates, started following it and called 911, investigators said.

Walgreens security gave deputies the location of the robbers.

"Our dispatch was able to actually track every step these guys were making as they fled the location," Harris County Precinct 4 Constable Mark Herman said.

Investigators said deputies in Montgomery County spotted the car in the 20500 block of FM 1488 in New Caney and arrested the four men inside.

Cash stolen from the drugstore and a pistol were found in the car, investigators said.

"I can tell you from the mannerisms of how they did the takedown robbery, in my 30 years in law enforcement, they've done this before. We do feel they're going to be (implicated in) for other robberies, so investigators will be connecting dots to other robberies in this area from last night and the last week or so," Herman said.

Johnson is being held without bond. Thomas and Wright are being held on $30,000 bonds and Jacobs is being held on a $20,000 bond.
