Man charged with capital murder in case of missing woman

A man was charged with capital murder in the death of a woman who was reported missing on Sept. 20.

Deputies said Amalia Alexander, 32, was last seen with her boyfriend, Jarvis Hickerson, 32, on Sept. 19 after they left a family member's home.

Members of Alexander's family reported her missing the next day when she didn't show up for work. Hickerson claimed he did not know where Alexander was.

After skeletal remains of a woman were found on Nov. 30 in Montgomery County, they were identified as belonging to Alexander.

Harris County Sheriff's Office homicide investigators said they obtained evidence that Hickerson had been near the crime scene.

Deputies said Hickerson has been in jail for violating a protective order that was placed on him earlier this year after a domestic violence altercation with Alexander.

Hickerson is charged with capital murder.
