Man awaiting sentencing for murder cuts off monitor, flees, prosecutors say
HOUSTON – A man, who was awaiting sentencing for killing a man two years ago, cut off his ankle monitor and fled, prosecutors said.
Jose Luis Hernandez, 22, pleaded guilty to Dec. 27, 2014, murder of Bryan Blanco.
Prosecutors said Hernandez and his accomplice, Frank Marinero, lured Blanco to the Sharpstown Park on Harbor Drive using a fake Facebook page. When Blanco arrived at the park, Marinero shot and killed him.
Marinero was convicted of murder and sentenced to 99 years in prison.
Hernandez was expected to appear in court Thursday for sentencing but never showed up, prosecutors said.
Police believe Hernandez, who is a Mexican national, may be heading to Mexico.
Anyone with information on Hernandez’s whereabouts was asked to call Crime Stoppers at 713-222-8477.
