Man shoots ex-girlfriend's boyfriend in Santa Fe, deputies say

SANTA FE, Texas – A man shot his ex-girlfriend’s boyfriend Friday morning during an argument with the man at a home in Santa Fe, deputies said.

The shooting was reported at 10:47 a.m. at a home near Dickey Lane and Fir Road.

According to the Galveston County Sheriff’s Office, a man was taking his child to visit his ex-girlfriend, who is the child’s mother. When the father and child arrived at the ex-girlfriend’s house, her new boyfriend came outside and began to "aggressively" argue with the child's father.

Deputies said the father left the home with the child, and his ex-girlfriend called him and asked him to return so that she could visit the child. He told his ex-girlfriend that he would return only if her new boyfriend stayed inside, and the ex-girlfriend agreed.

When the father and child returned to the home, the new boyfriend came back outside and again acted aggressively, deputies said. The child's father, who stayed in his truck, told the boyfriend to stay away from him or he would shoot him. As the boyfriend approached the child's father, the child's father pulled out a gun and shot the boyfriend in the stomach, deputies said.

Deputies said the father left the scene and called 911.

The woman's boyfriend was taken to Memorial Hermann Hospital, deputies said. His condition was not immediately released.

It was not immediately clear if the father had been charged in connection with the case.
