Woman leaving bar involved in deadly collision with motorcyclist, deputies say

NORTHWEST HARRIS COUNTY, Texas – A woman pulled in front of a motorcyclist causing a deadly crash early Sunday morning, deputies said.

Lauren Franek, 35, left a bar near the 11100 block of Spring Cypress Road near Highway 249 driving a black Mercedes-Benz SUV eastbound, according to authorities.

The motorcyclist traveling westbound was heading to the very bar she left to do janitorial cleanup work after the bar closed, officials said.

Franek told deputies she didn’t see the motorcyclist before pulling in front of him causing them to crash, according to authorities.

The man driving the motorcycle died upon impact of the crash, officials said.

Deputies said Franek had been drinking alcohol.

Officials said the man was in his in 20s, but have not released his identification yet. 

According to court documents, Franek has been charged with a DWI and has bonded out of jail.

However, deputies said they investigating to see if they should charge her with intoxication manslaughter, which depends on how fast the motorcyclist was driving.

Franek will make her first court appearance on Dec. 2, according to court documents.
