Police: Man shot after Lone Star Rally Festival in Galveston

GALVESTON, Texas – A man is in critical condition Sunday after being shot during an altercation at the end of the Lone Star Rally Festival in Galveston, police said.

Police said the shooting happened shortly before 1 a.m. near the intersection of 23rd and Strand.

Witnesses told police two groups of people were engaged in an argument when one man shot the other man and fled, police said.

Officers responded to the scene and immediately treated the wounded man. The victim was transported by ambulance to John Sealy Emergency Room.

The man is in stable-but-critical condition, police said.

The suspect was described as a black man about 20-25 years old and 5 feet 10 inches tall with a slim built. Police said he was last seen wearing black pants and a red shirt.

Investigators are currently following an active lead.
