KEMAH, Texas – Cat-astrophe averted!
Kemah police Sgt. Jerry Barmore and Officer Justin Staton were called to the scene of someone stuck in a drain hole on FM 518 in Kemah on Friday. Turns out, it wasn't a person. It was a kitten.

The officers jumped into action to rescue the cat. Barmore got down into the drain from one end, while Staton got in on the other side.
The officers were calling the kitten to come toward them, but it wasn't quite working. So what did they use to lure the kitten? Whataburger, of course.
One of the officers used Whataburger chicken tenders to get the kitten to come toward him, and it worked.
The kitten was turned over to Galveston Animal Control.
"The line to adopt the kitten has already begun," the Kemah Police Department Facebook post read. "Sgt. Barmore and a few Whataburger employees will look to adopt the kitten if the owner is not found."
And if you're wondering about the kitten's temporary name, its Chicken.
Sgt. Barmore trying to talk the kitten out of the drain, negotiations were in progress.... a whataburger snack was the reward for the kitten.

COOLEST.CAKE.EVER. This is definitely worth sharing! A San Antonio mother shared this photo of a Whataburger cake she made for her son's birthday.
