HARRIS COUNTY, Texas – The Harris County Sheriff's Office has identified the victims of a double shooting in northeast Houston.
Investigators said Juan Castro,42, and his wife were meeting a friend, Raquel Estrada, 47, at their home in the 3500 block of Mohawk Street near Bentley Street.
Deputies said as the couple pulled up to the house, three or four Hispanic men approached them with handguns and demanded money.
According to officers, Castro was shot multiple times while his wife hid underneath the car.
Deputies said his wife was unharmed.
Investigators said Estrada, who was in her own car, tried to drive off but crashed into a ditch. Investigators said one of the gunmen followed her to the ditch, shot and killed her.
Castro was taken to Ben Taub Hospital in critical condition.
Investigators said the men drove off in a beige, four-door sedan.
