Driver hits patrol car while deputies investigate fatal accident

Man struck by 3 vehicles dies in NW Harris County

HARRIS COUNTYHarris County deputies say a man and woman were driving down Jones Road near White Oak Bend Drive in a grey Honda Civic around midnight when Thomas Brown jumped out of the car Buffy Bateman was driving.

According to police, three cars hit Brown, but only one stopped.

Brown died at the scene.

According to police, Marvin Alvarez was driving a black Toyota Corolla northbound on Jones Road when he struck Brown's body.

"The male who we're being told was smoking meth earlier in the day, while they were going down the road, he began getting very anxious, very paranoid and suddenly jumped out of the car," said Sgt. Wolverton of the Harris County Sheriff's Office.

While deputies were investigating, a man driving a Honda Civic hit one of the patrol cars. The deputy was outside the car and was not hit.

Deputies say the driver was arrested and they believe he was drunk.

As for the initial crash, deputies say Bateman stayed on the scene and gave them information about what happened.
