HOUSTON – The Palm on Westheimer is known for its steaks and high end atmosphere. But inspectors spotted something pretty unsavory during a check this week. They saw an employee handling food with bare hands. That's a violation.
Rodent droppings were found at Cazadores Mexican Restaurant on Kingsride Drive.
Inspectors found them on top of the dishwashing machine. ;They also spotted an employee using bare hands to handle tacos and tortillas.
At Ruchis el Rincon de Mexico Grill on Westheimer, inspectors caught temperature issues and a problem with the refrigerator.
When asked about the beef kabobs, hot dogs, fish and shrimp that was off temperature, workers said the cooler problems were fixed.
At Original Timmy Chans on Fuqua, some of the food wasn't safe for human consumption. Inspectors tossed fried rice and milk that was too warm and ordered the cooler to be fixed.
The Island Grill, also known as Smoothie Island Juice Bar on Woodway, had temperature issues. Guacamole and turkey was being stored at temps more than 10 degrees too warm.
And, a late night and breakfast favorite landed on the report card this week. The House of Pies on Westhetimer was dinged for keeping meat, cheese and salad dressing at dangerous temperatures.
