Hillary Clinton in Houston to attend fundraiser

HOUSTON – Hillary Clinton spent about two hours at the Children's Museum as her quest for the White House made a stop in Houston.  The Democratic front-runner made an appearance at a private fundraiser Tuesday evening billed as an event for families.

"Her campaign wanted to have a special place for families," said Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee.

Lee, a staunch Clinton supporter, who has known the democratic presidential candidate for decades, says the Children's Museum was an ideal spot for Tuesday's fundraiser.

"We wanted this to be a statement of what a Hillary Clinton would be as a president," Lee said. "She would support and promote issues and programs for families."

Clinton's Houston visit comes at a time when contender Bernie Sanders is not only rapidly closing the gap in polls in Iowa, in some surveys Sanders is winning. But with less than two weeks until the Iowa caucuses Clinton is doing all she can to shore up support and raise money across the country.

The cost to attend Tuesday's fundraiser was $500 per ticket.  A family could also pay $5400 to host, and supporters could also raise $10,000 to earn a host title.  Clinton had no scheduled public appearances while she was in town.
