Deputies said the mother and her daughter had stopped at the grocery store and was pumping gas into their car when the man drove up alongside of their car, stepped out of his vehicle with his trousers unzipped and exposed himself to the mother and child.

After exposing himself, the man got back into his car. Witnesses told deputies they thought he left going east on Highway 1008 and then turned into the Woodland Hills subdivision about a mile from the grocery store, the Sheriff's Office said.

Deputies said investigators who were acting on a cellphone photograph of the man's license plate number taken as he fled the scene developed evidence and information that led them to file charges and arrest Mathew McBride, 23.

A photo lineup was shown to the victim, where she picked out the suspect easily, deputies said.

It was found that McBride was wanted on three outstanding traffic warrants, which were served on him by Capt. Mark Ellington and Deputy John Mendoza, according to the Sheriff's Office. They reported that McBride offered no resistance and denied that he exposed himself, deputies said.

A third-degree felony charge of indecency with a child by exposing was filed on McBride. Deputies said he was placed in the Liberty County Jail.

Ellington said that the investigation is continuing to determine if any further charges will be filed.
