Restaurant Report Card: Creepy crawlers found at eateries

HOUSTON – A few stomach-churning tidbits were found in this week's "Restaurant Report Card." We're talking "creepy crawlers" at hot spots all over the city.

It was a roach filled week for Yao Restaurant Bar at 9755 Westheimer. Health inspectors found a roach in the door and a water heater closet.

More roaches were found at Tony's Barbecue and Steakhouse at 17052 Saturn Lane. Roaches were found on the floor and some shelves as well as several other locations.

At Birraporetti's at 500 Louisiana, roaches were spotted in the pizza prep area.

At Porra's Prontito at 6301 Market Street, live chickens were found in cages in the back of the restaurant.

Inspectors told the restaurant to get rid of them, or to house them properly.

Seven hundred pounds of ice had to be thrown out at Connie's Seafood Market No. 2 at 340 Wayside. The ice was contaminated after it was used to cool food.

And at Playa el Cuco Restaurant at 436 E.Crosstimbers, rodents, cockroaches and other insects were found in the kitchen.

The restaurant is required to get rid of them all.
