Inspectors threw out almost 30 pounds of food not stored at the right temperature at Go Fresh Gourmet in the 1600 block of Fannin. An employee was also found handling lettuce, tomatoes and cooked bacon with bare hands. Workers need to use gloves.
Inspectors found signs of pests at Johnny's Pizza and Pasta in the 7200 block of Bellerive. Workers were told to clean rodent droppings found on top of a water heater.
The Wild Cajun in the 6500 block of Wilcrest also had violations this week. Inspectors found black mildew in the ice machine.
Inspectors left orders to clean the machine and keep the black mildew out.
Inspectors threw out 1,000 pounds of ice because it was covered in slime at Revelry on Richmond. The pinkish brown slime was found in the ice machine. Revelry cannot use that machine until it's re-inspected.
It was not a good week for Jo Jo's Asian Bistro in the 2300 block of the Eastex Freeway. Health inspectors found raw food stored in open containers on the cooler floor. Jo Jo's was told to cover all of its raw items.
The two spots that passed with flying colors this week: Murphy's Deli in the 500 block of Chimney Rock and Nestle Tollhouse Cafe at the Greenspoint Mall. Both had spotless inspections.
