RIO DE JANEIRO – Rio de Janeiro has ambitious goals for the Olympics.
But right now many of the 14 venues being built are nowhere near completion.
With one year to go before the Olympics, a marathon or mad dash -- of sorts-- is underway to get all the venues up and ready in time for the games.
The games will be hosted in four different areas of the city.
Barra Da Tijuca, Copacabana, Deodoro and Maracanã.
The Olympic park is considered the heart of the games.
It will take over about 250 acres in Barra Da Tijuca.
The Olympic stadium will host 16 events.
Right now the underground infrastructure is 91 percent complete. The above ground work is still ongoing.
Over in Deodoro--- Deodoro Olympic park-- will host 11 sports. The complex is not new for the games, it's getting a rehab from previous international competitions.
It will be one of the most diverse venues at the Olympics. It will host events like BMX, canoe slalom and equestrian.
Rugby will also take place in Deodoro. Officials are crossing their fingers that the venue selected inside complex-- for their matches--- will be ready in time.
Construction on the stadium has not started with just a year to go.
The marina at Copacabana was already put to the test over the weekend with the triathlon, it will also host sailing.
And finally in Maracanã-- later this year plans are in the works to expand an existing stadium to hold 60,000 spectators.
Right now it's being used for football matches, but when the Olympics roll around, it'll be used for events like the marathon and archery.
