2 Stafford teachers accused of slapping and verbally abusing child

STAFFORD, Texas – Colette Williams was surprised, then angered after hearing from her son that he hadn't hurt himself in weight class this morning.  He allegedly was physically assaulted by a teacher, then verbally abused by a coach.

"He said the second coach said, 'Yeah he slapped you and he'll do it again,'" says Williams, repeating what her son told her.

Williams says her eighth-grader called her in tears from Stafford Middle School after being slapped.  Her son says it was all because he wasn't using proper technique on an exercise inside the weight room.  He says the coach then embarrassed him in front of the whole class about the incident.  Willaims says it all was witnessed by other students -- and by school cameras.

She believes the two employees were so bold because of what she claims is a culture of fear they've instilled in the students.

"These coaches thought that they had these kids under control to where that they wouldn't tell," she says.

The school district acted swiftly.  In a statement the Stafford Municipal School District says "The teacher and coach were immediately removed from the class and have been put on administrative leave until the investigation is complete."

Colette Williams says she is determined to see that investigation to the very end.

"This time they messed with the wrong mama," she says.

For Williams, she says the end means pursuing this case to the fullest extent legally as well as civilly.
