Police search for man last seen on fishing trip in Lake Livingston area

Kyle Rugg, 20, never returned from trip with friend

HARRIS COUNTY, Texas – The search for a missing man got underway Monday morning in the Lake Livingston area.

Several volunteers left a command post in Lake Livingston Village on foot and ATVs to begin the search for 20-year-old Kyle Rugg.

Rugg was last seen after a fishing trip with friends at Lake Livingston -- nearly 100 miles away from home -- more than a month ago.

"It's just been really difficult for us, we just need prayers and support," said Kyle's father, Les Rugg.

His closest friends haven't heard from him since March 4. His mother said he did not leave the fishing trip with the same person he had gone with in the first place. They've also checked his social media accounts, phone records and his EZ Tag activity, which all turned up nothing.

"Kyle was nowhere to be found. He didn't come back to the apartment that night, his car wasn't around," said Kyle's mother, Judy Rugg.

Now EquuSearch is heading up the effort to find Kyle Rugg after the Harris County Sheriff's Office notified the organization.

"Different neighborhoods in and around Tigerville Park we will be looking around there and some other places," said Jack Boggess, with EquuSearch.

Volunteers said they can't imagine what Kyle's family is going through and want to help them find their son.

"Prayers and well wishes are very nice, but doing something concrete that can actually bring about some closure and some change is probably even more important," said volunteer Christina Banker.

The Harris County Sheriff's Office is also looking for Rugg's missing car, a 2003 silver Hyundai Elantra, with Texas plate CD4 Z207.

The family is offering a reward to anybody with information about Rugg's disappearance that can help find him.

If you have any information, call the Harris County Sheriff's Office.
